L.A. GOAL’s Independent Living Skills Programs help each Member reach his or her highest potential in work and life. Our programs are open to adults with all types of developmental disabilities, including Autism, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, mental retardation, Epilepsy, and other neurological problems.

At L.A. GOAL, we avoid using terms such as ‘client,’ ‘consumer,’ and terms such as ‘high or low functioning.’ We’ve seen how these labels can be demeaning and limiting. Given the training in a nurturing and supportive environment, Members and their families are often surprised with what they can accomplish.

For example, three Members who were previously non-verbal (or only spoke unintelligible words) are now speaking and communicating clearly, after participating in our Independent Living Skills programs. Members who could not read are now reading. Members who were unemployable because of behavioral issues or simply a lack of marketable skills are now working and keeping their jobs.

Our Independent Living Skills Programs provide vocational training, employment, basic life skills, health and wellness, leadership opportunities, visual and performing arts, recreation and social opportunities.

Keep exploring our Programs to learn how our Members reaching their true, full and beautiful potential.
